More than 400 vehicles with expired registrations were fined in Sharjah early this year by the Sharjah Traffic and Patrol Department.

Major Bayat said driving vehicles without renewing their registrations is dangerous for road safety since most of these cars have not undergone a full technical inspection which determines their road-worthiness.

He said vehicles whose registrations have not been renewed were the focus of an inspection campaign conducted by Sharjah Police. Such vehicles face a fine of Dh400.

Driving an uninsured vehicle can invite a penalty of suspension for seven days and a fine of Dh200, he added. Major Bayat called on motorists to renew their vehicle registration in time so as not to face penalties.
