As the temperatures reach its high, respite comes in with new car window tinting rules in UAE. Rejoice car owners for while you were only allowed up to 30% tinting previously, you are now allowed up to 50%.
Perfect timing as the summer hit the UAE hard this year, the rules for tinting your car windows have changed, which will apply to all vehicles except for commercial truck and taxis.
According to Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Assistant Commander-in Chief for Operational Affairs at Dubai Police and Director of the Federal Traffic Council, you can now tint your windows up till 50%.
This change falls under the new Federal Traffic Law introduced on July 1st of this year, and it allows drivers to tint all windows except for the windshield. Unlike earlier, the new law also extends to rental cars and with the same 50% tinting.
The best part about this rule change is that you will no longer have to pay 1,500 AED fine for windows tinted more than 30% and of course the A/C will work more efficiently giving you a breather from the scorching sun.
